Event Details

Sponsored Top Pro Photographer Erik Valind is teaming up with SaberStrip to bring you an insightful look into lighting and people photography as well as an in-depth, engaging demonstration of the new SaberStrip speed light modifier.

Getting your light off camera and under control allows you more creativity and mobility when shooting on location with your subjects. With the help of a model or two, all attendees will learn how to craft beautiful off-camera light that stays under control, even in windy or space-constrained conditions.

You can look forward to learning:

  • The characteristics of light and how to achieve these with different tools
  • Some great lighting setups utilizing minimal gear
  • Mixing artificial and ambient light sources
  • Using Inverse Square law to your advantage

Equally important we will touch on:

  • How to interact with and direct your subject
  • The importance of building trust through rapport
  • As well as great ways to bottle inspiration

Whether you are just starting out or looking to add a versatile tool to your kit, make sure to come out to The Swan Dive bar on Saturday, March 5 for a head start into a world of creative innovations in light modification.

Make sure to get the word out to your friends and fellow photographers too, as this is sure to be a great opportunity for networking.

Welcome to the Evolution of the Small Flash

"While small flash or “Strobist” photography benefits from being able to use many small light sources in an environment, you’ll invariably find yourself slave to soft box or umbrella type modifier systems. These modifiers may prove invaluable in many scenarios, however they can also limit your shooting style. The next level of small flash photography is a system that is portable, lightweight, modular, and maintains beautiful light output."
